The Virginia Peanut Tour is set for Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Suffolk.
Speakers include Drs. Maria Balota, Bradly Gillam, Hillary Mehl, Julie Shortridge and Sally Taylor with Virginia Tech and Dr. David Jordan with North Carolina State University. Topics covered include precision irrigation, sensors for stress detection, weed control and tank mixes, fungicide trials and disease scouting, thrips management and tomato spot wilt virus identification.
In addition, a session will be held on “Getting irrigation not sure of the cost?” Field day participants can visit research plots and there will also be equipment demonstrations.
The field day begins at 8 a.m. with registration and the program gets underway at 8:30 a.m. concluding with a catered lunch. The field day will be held at 1045 Haire Road, Suffolk, Va. 23437.
