California Citrus Mutual celebrated 37 years as the voice for the California citrus grower by hosting a Hollywood-themed annual meeting, complete with red carpet, in Visalia, Calif.
The event was attended by over 1,000 citrus growers and industry supporters.
It featured an unveiling of the organization's new communications program, which seeks to offer a more aggressive effort to inform lawmakers and policy makers at the state and federal levels, as well as help consumers understand what the industry does to protect the environment while providing healthy fruit to global consumers.
More than three decades of past board chairmen were also honored at the event. Those chairmen included Don Schroeder, John Colbert, Rod Radtke, Philip LoBue, Nick Hill, David Roberts and Tom Wollenman.
An introduction of new board members and recently-retired board members was also made during the gala.
