The annual field day for Mississippi’s blueberry growers will showcase innovation and good management techniques at a Wayne County farm on Oct. 11.

Tom Giles and John Giles of Giles Farm in Waynesboro will host producers, specialists from the Mississippi State University Extension Service and employees from the USDA’s Agriculture Research Service and exhibitors from across the United States.

“The 2012 Gulf South Blueberry Growers Association field day is an excellent opportunity to see effective blueberry management practices and production techniques,” said Eric Stafne, MSU Extension Service fruit crops specialist. “In addition to touring the Giles’ processing facility and farm, growers can network with each other and talk to exhibitors about the latest equipment, supplies and productsat the extensive trade show.”

Event cost is $20 per person for pre-registered members of the Gulf South Blueberry Growers Association and $30 per person for pre-registered non-members. At the door, the registration cost is $30 per person for members, $40 per person for non-members.
