S.D. Cattlemen re-elected officers
The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association recently re-elected its officers for another one-year term. Larry Stomprud, a cow-calf and seedstock producer from Mud Butte, will serve as president; Steve Ollerich, a cattle feeder from Dell Rapids, will serve as vice president; and Allen Walth, a cow-calf producer from Glenham, will serve as secretary-treasurer. 

U.S. Durum Growers recognizes two
Keith Deutsch, a farmer from Plaza, N.D., and John Crabtree, assistant director of the Northern Crops Institute, received the U.S. Durum Growers 2017 Amber Awards. Deutsch was a director on the U.S. Durum Growers Association board from 2008 and 2016 and served as president. Crabtree has been with the Northern Crops Institute for more than 30 years, and has spent his career working to maintain and expand durum sales domestically and abroad.

Ryan Pederson, a North Dakota soybean grower, was recently elected to the governing board of the National Biodiesel Board.

U.S. Durum Growers awards scholarships
Alex Abrahamson, St. John, N.D.; and Mylie Herman, Tilden, N.D., received scholarships from the U.S. Durum Growers Association. Abrahamson is a freshman at Dakota College at Bottineau, where he is pursuing a degree in crop and weed science. Herman is a senior at North Dakota State University and is studying economics and strategic communications.

VanderWal re-elected VP of AFBF
Delegates to the American Farm Bureau Federation's annual convention elected Scott VanderWal, Volga, S.D., as vice president for another two-year term. VanderWal is also the president of the South Dakota Farm Bureau

Inkster, N.D., woman elected president of WIFE
Diane McDonald, Inkster, N.D., was elected president of Women Involved in Farm Economics. She grows spring and winter wheat, soybeans, pinto beans, and corn, and raises registered Simmental cattle.
