It’s not too late to register for the second annual Southwest Agricultural Issues Summit, but it’s getting close.
The Summit, which will feature the latest updates on farm bill debates, other Washington issues and the increasing concern over water use in the Southwest region, will begin Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City. The conference closes Tuesday, September 10 following keynote luncheon speaker David Wasserman with the Cook Political Report.
Opening session Monday morning will feature Chairman of the house Agriculture Committee Frank Lucas with an update on farm bill debate and possibilities for passage before expiring at the end of the month.
Also on the agenda will be discussions on trade, endangered species, and crop insurance. Jim Wiesemeyer, with Informa Economics, will discuss the state of the agriculture industry.
The summit brings agricultural leaders from across the greater Southwest region together to discuss key issues facing agriculture, as well as the opportunity to network with fellow agricultural influencers in the industry.
This year's event boasts a host of notable speakers as well as ample networking opportunities, including a golf tournament, wine tasting and poker tournament.
The summit is hosted by the Southwest Council of Agribusiness and the Texas Ag Forum.
The Southwest Council is an alliance of agricultural organizations, financial institutions and businesses. It was established to actively advocate for strong agricultural policy, which is so important to the business and economy of the greater Southwest area, including Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
The Texas Ag Forum is a group of ag leaders and representatives coordinated by the Ag and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University from across Texas that provides an open forum for public discussion of problems and issues facing agriculture.
