Danforth scientists fighting poverty in Africa

September 23, 2011

Plant diseases rob farmers of yield not only in the United States but in many other parts of the world. One area where this is especially true is in cassava production in Africa. Dr. Claude Fauquet and a team of scientists at the Danforth Plant Science Center are working on solutions that could help African farmers grow more crops and, in turn, lift millions out of poverty. Fauquet discussed the research at the Monsanto Media Days in early August. (The Danforth Center is located across the street from the Monsanto headquarters in St. Louis.)
