Mississippi Delta Community College’s Capps Technology Center will hold Agricultural Production Training on its Moorhead, Miss., campus May 26 to June 6. The training has been requested by area farmers, because there is a need for trained applicants in this field.

New equipment is highly technical and many times requires knowledge of navigational systems. The training will better prepare those who want to work on a farm. The course will provide hands-on experience in operating tractors, attaching implements, pulling wide-span rigs, basic tractor maintenance, and tool identification, and will provide an overview of guidance systems.

The Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation will also conduct basic farm safety training and CPR certification.

“A special thanks to The Capps Center for being concerned about our industry and giving folks an opportunity for employment,” said Gary Fratesi of Indianola, Miss. “We are experiencing growing pains in the area of technology, and this training will help bridge the gap. All of the farmers I’ve spoken to are excited about this program and want to hire local people. Jobs are available right now.”

The deadline to register for this training is May 15. Those interested should call the MDCC Capps Technology Center at (662) 887-2876.
