Dairy producers in Mississippi and Louisiana can learn more efficient ways to produce, store and use forage crops at the Dairy Forage Production and Utilization Pasture Walk on September 12.

Mississippi State University Extension Service employees, Louisiana State University AgCenter personnel and dairy forage industry representatives will tour and discuss various forage production and utilization topics at the Kiahnell Smith Dairy Farm, located at 203 Sammy Jo Road near Poplarville. Local producers will be on hand to talk about their experiences with Brown Mid-Rib forage sorghums.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. The forage tour and discussion begin at 10:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon. The event adjourns at 2 p.m.

The Kiahnell Smith Dairy Farm is located just north of Highway 26, about 9 miles east of Interstate 59 at Poplarville. It is 9 miles west of Highway 49 at Wiggins. A Country Girls Creamery sign marks the intersection ofHighway 26 and Sammy Jo Road.
