The training will include three livestock emergency response trailers that are available in the event of a truck rollover involving livestock. This will be the first opportunity for individuals to see the trailers and handle the equipment, organizers say.

Jennifer Woods, a livestock handling specialist from Blackie, Alberta, Canada, will lead the training. Woods has been delivering the livestock emergency response course throughout the United States and Canada since 1998.

The training will provide emergency response personnel, including firefighters, peace officers and livestock owner/truckers with information on how to handle livestock in an emergency situation and ways to improve animal well-being and enhance the safety of those involved.

Cost for the training is $10 per person and includes lunch. POST and CE credits are available for attending.

Training starts at 8:30 a.m. with classroom instruction followed by hands-on demonstrations in the afternoon.

Law enforcement, firefighters, emergency managers and any other personnel who may respond to a livestock truck rollover as well as individuals specializing in livestock transportation and farm transportation managers are encouraged to attend.
