Virginia schedules winter meetings for growers

Increased interest in corn production due to planned ethanol plants, and a resurgence of interest in peanuts since the announcement by Kellog that they will be using all Virginia-North Carolina peanuts in their products, may provide more interest in a number of grower-oriented meetings scheduled in Virginia this winter.

A listing of some of these key meetings follows:

• Jan. 15, Virginia Grain Production Conference at the Paul D. Camp Community Center in Franklin, Va.

• Jan. 23, Virginia Forage Conference at the National Guard Armory in Suffolk, Va.

• Feb. 7, Virginia Peanut Production Meeting at the Wakefield, Va., 4H Center

• Feb. 8, first ever joint meeting of the Virginia Soybean, Corn and Small Grain associations at Colonial Downs in New Kent, Va.

• Feb. 12, Cotton Production Meeting, Tidewater Agriculture Research and Extension Center in Suffolk, Va.

• Feb. 13, Virginia Cotton Growers Meeting at the Paul D. Camp Community Center in Franklin, Va.

• Feb. 15, Virginia Seed Conference at the Williamsburg Hospitality House in Williamsburg, Va.

• Feb. 20, Cotton Production Conference at the Wakefield 4H Center in Franklin, Va.

• Feb. 21, Economic Outlook Conference at the Paul D. Camp Community Center in Franklin, Va.
