Farmers will have the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns about the 2014 Farm Bill at an upcoming meeting hosted by the Michigan Farmers Union (MFU).

The Farm Bill Listening Session is set for July 13, at the AgroLiquid Fertilizer facility located at 3055 W. M-21, St. Johns..

The meeting will start at 1 p.m. after a free lunch sponsored by Hastings Mutual Insurance Company to be served at noon. The meeting will adjourn at 2:30 p.m.

“This meeting will give MFU members and other interested parties an opportunity to give feedback on the 2014 Farm Bill,” says Michigan Farmers Union president, Bob Thompson.

“We are hoping to hear what farmers think about the Farm Bill. Is it working for farmers? What is it missing? What do farmers like about it and what don’t they agree with. This is a good opportunity for farmers to make their voices heard,” Thompson adds.

Barbara Patterson of National Farmers Union (NFU) Governmental Relations division will be on hand to lead the discussion.

Information gathered at the meeting will help shape NFU’s communications with government agencies and departments to better serve farmers and also provide useful data in compiling the next Farm Bill.

MFU members and members of the public interested in attending the meeting should call Ardy Graham at (989) 224-2849 or email [email protected].
