That tax on Mexican imports floated by Trump administration would have impacts on American consumers. Did you know we imported $21 billion worth of food and drink from Mexico in 2015? U.S. also imported $5 billion worth of tomatoes, onions and chili peppers. U.S. also imports fruits including raspberries and strawberries; wine and beer, too. You can't forget snack foods either.
Donald Trump's tax on imports has created quite a stir in auto industry. The industry says it will add $2,300 to the cost of a car, which may be offset if he takes away regulations and lowers fuel economy standards.
The imports that are not so desirable from Mexico include heroin, which is a suburban and rural problem.
