The Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin is planning its 2016 Herdsperson Conference for Dec. 6-8. This hands-on training is designed to equip herd managers and other dairy professionals with the skills and management strategies to operate a successful dairy business.
The one-day conference will be held at three locations. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with training running from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The dates and locations include:
• Dec. 6 — Fox Valley Technical College, 1200 E. Chestnut St., Chilton
• Dec. 7 — Chippewa Valley Technical College, 620 W. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire
• Dec. 8 — Southwest Technical College, 1800 Bronson Blvd., Fennimore
HANDS-ON TRAINING: The PDPW Herdsperson Conference will be held Dec. 6, 7 and 8.
Four well-known industry experts will share the latest in research and their expertise in cow comfort, forage quality, transition cow health and reproduction. The conference presenters are Dr. Heather White, University of Wisconsin-Madison; Dr. Richard Pursley, Michigan State University; Dr. Gordon Jones, independent dairy performance consultant and partner at Central Sands Dairy LLC; and Dr. Randy Shaver, UW-Madison.
This information-packed conference will bring participants together with the above-mentioned industry specialists and their peers to glean new knowledge, share ideas and take home tactics for their on-farm management. The day will include four main presentations and four breakout sessions that will allow attendees to tailor their learning experience. The conference is open to herd managers, nutritionists, veterinarians and others interested in advanced cow health research, management practices and technologies.
The PDPW Herdsperson Conference runs in partnership with the UW School of Veterinary Medicine and will credit up to 7.0 continuing education credits, and with the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists, crediting up to 5.0 continuing education credits.
