Meat animal cash receipts are down for 2015

Michigan cattle and calf marketings were down 5% from 2014.

Michigan cattle and calves cash receipts totaled $624.7 million in 2015, down 8% from 2014, according to the USDA, NASS, Great Lakes Regional Office. Cattle and calf marketings totaled 441.8 million pounds, down 5% from 2014.

Michigan hog cash receipts totaled $352.8 million in 2015, down 11% from 2014. All hog and pig marketings totaled 629.0 million pounds, up 22% from 2014. 

Nationally, cash receipts from marketings of cattle and calves decreased 4% from $81.5 billion in 2014 to $78.2 billion in 2015. All cattle and calf marketings totaled 52.4 billion pounds in 2015, down 1% from 2014.

Nationally, cash receipts from hogs and pigs totaled $21.0 billion during 2015, down 21% from 2014. Marketings totaled 36.2 billion pounds in 2015, up 9% from 2014.
