Farm Show Feeds, a meal-packaging event conducted by FFA members from the Mid-South, will take place Saturday, Feb.27, at the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show. The event will begin at 9 a.m. on the mezzanine level of the Cook Convention Center.

 “This event, which results in thousands of highly nutritious meals being packaged for the Mid-South Food Bank, is significant in terms of aid to those in need,” says Tim Price, manager of the show and executive director of the Southern Cotton Ginners Association. “We are honored to partner with FFA in this rewarding activity that benefits those in the Mid-South who are in need of food.”

The meal-packaging event, now in its fourth year, has produced thousands of meals, he says, and is just one of several activities scheduled in conjunction with the show. “FFA students who participate in the packaging endeavor also work with some of the 400 exhibitors at our premier farm show, as well as walking the show hall floors to interact with attendees and exhibitors.

“These young people represent the next generation of individuals who will be running our farms, our agribusinesses, and staffing exhibits at the Farm and Gin Show,” Price says. “The value of their service to our communities, and their time and commitment to meeting the needs of individuals who don’t have ready access to highly-nutritious food, is noteworthy and we’re proud to sponsor them at the show.”

Thousands of nutritious meals will be packaged this Saturday at the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show by FFA members for distribution to those in need.

At last years show, FFA chapters from the Mid-South packaged more than 35,000 meals for the food bank to distribute to those in need.

Price encourages those attending the show to stop by and encourage the FFA students at the Farm Show Feeds event. “There may even be an opportunity to pitch in and package a few meals. I’m sure the students would welcome the encouragement and recognition, and those attending the show will gain appreciation for these young people and their willingness to help meet a growing need in the Mid-South and beyond.”

Over the course of the two days of the 64^th Mid-South Farm and Gin Show, more than 400 exhibitors from over 40 states will be on hand to showcase the latest technologies and innovations in agriculture. .
