Southwest farmers have a variety of crop meetings, field days and seminars coming up in the next few weeks.

Offerings include a field crops program; a presentation by national expert on cattle handling and stockmanship; a wine grape field day; and a tractor, brush-busting, and cattle working workshop.

Field Crops Program June 29 in Seguin expected to yield producer interest

A Field Crops Program June 29 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Guadalupe County will appeal to producers of several crops. The program will be from 9 a.m. to noon at 210 E. Live Oak St. in Seguin. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $10 and attendees are requested to preregister by June 27.

Cattle handling and stockmanship expert set to speak at free educational conference

International cattle handling and stockmanship expert Dr. Tom Noffsinger will headline a slate of speakers at the Merck Animal Health and Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension Cattle Conference July 16.

The session is free and open to the public. The meeting runs from the conference will be 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Grady County Fairgrounds and Event Center, 500 East Choctaw, in Chickasha. Dinner will be provided in part by the Beef Check Off and the Oklahoma Beef Quality Assurance Program

Inaugural Northeast Texas Wine Grape Growers Field Day and Tour set for July 14 in Harleton

Folks interested in  the growing Texas wine industry have an opportunity to learn more  at the first Northeast Texas Wine Grape Growers Field Day and Tour, July 14 at Enoch’s Stomp Vineyard and Winery,871 County Road 4312 in Harleton.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by discussions by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service specialists and winemakers. A tour of the vineyard is the finale and ends a little after 3 p.m.

Tractor, cattle working, Brush Busters demonstrations planned for Beef Cattle Short Course

The annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short course always attracts top livestock operators across the state with timely, innovative presentations. This year’s sessions will continue the tradition with live cattle working, tractor equipment, and Brush Busters demonstrations planned. This is the 62nd Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course and is scheduled Aug. 1-3 at Texas A&M University in College Station.

All demonstrations will be Aug. 3 at various locations. They will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon.
