Four dairymen, including two from Michigan, elected to NorthStar Board

Paul Trierweiler and Jason Benthem are re-elected to represent the state with three year terms

Four dairymen were recently elected to the NorthStar Board of Directors. Paul Trierweiler of Portland, MI; Jason Benthem of McBain, MI; Don Hoffelt of Bruce, WI; and Ken Carnahan of Butler, IN will serve on the NorthStar Board of Directors for a three year term. NorthStar’s Board of Directors is comprised of 12 member-owners each representing a geographic region within NorthStar’s service area, as well as one director at-large, which is appointed by the board.

Trierweiler currently serves as President on the NorthStar Board of Directors, a position he has held for three years. Beyond his work at NorthStar, Trierweiler has served on the Union Bank Board for the past ten years, as well as the MSU Advisory Board for two years. Trierweiler along with his family operate Trierweiler Dairy, Inc., a 1,400 Holstein dairy in Portland, MI.

Re-elected for his third term, Benthem has served on the NorthStar Board of Directors for three years and the Antel BioSystems board for the past two years. He has also served on the NorthStar Advisory and Resolutions Committee for three years and is involved in various activities in his community. Benthem and his family operate Benthem Bros, Inc., a 1,125-cow Holstein dairy in McBain, MI.

A NorthStar Board of Directors member since 2010, Hoffelt also serves on the NorthStar Finance and Review Committee and is an alternate for the Select Sires Board of Directors. Outside of NorthStar, Hoffelt serves as Director and Division Secretary for Associated Milk Producers, Inc. (AMPI), as well as Director for Equity Livestock Sales Association. Hoffelt is the owner of Jen Don Holsteins, a 50-cow registered herd in Bruce, WI.

Newly elected to the NorthStar Board of Directors, Carnahan is replacing retiring board member Mike Heckaman. Prior to his role on the Board of Directors, Carnahan served on the NorthStar Advisory and Resolutions Committee for the past 15 years. He is also very involved in his community, serving 20 years on the DeKalb County DHIA board and working as a paramedic for nearly 30 years. Carnahan is President/C.E.O. of K.D. Carnahan Farms, Inc., a 300-cow herd in Butler, IN.
