The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has approved a new trait stack from Syngenta, Agrisure 3120 E-Z Refuge.

Syngenta officials said that Agrisure 3120 E-Z Refuge offers aboveground insect control using two modes of action to battle corn borer and control ear-feeding insects, with the convenience of an integrated refuge product.

“This new trait stack is a great solution for growers interested in controlling aboveground insect pressure from pests like European corn borer and western bean cutworm, both of which have been prevalent this season,” said Iris Tzafrir, commercial traits product lead with Syngenta.

The trait stack refuge product will be available for 2017 planting from Syngenta seed brands Golden Harvest and NK Corn, and through licensing agreements with other seed companies.

Additionally, growers will have access to the insect control benefits of Agrisure 3120 E-Z Refuge in combination with Agrisure Artesian technology for water optimization designated as Agrisure 3120A E-Z Refuge, Syngenta officials said.
