NRCS on Watersheds, Water Quality and Conservation Investment

The annual Conservation Technology Information Center's (CTIC) Conservation in Action Tour held Tuesday and Wednesday July 9-10 in central Illinois' Livingston County was kicked off by the Acting Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Jason Weller. In this Corn & Soybean Digest video by Editor Kurt Lawton, Weller talks about several key conservation efforts:

  • How the Indian Creek Watershed is an amazing producer-led project that stands out as a great collaborative effort to implement conservation practices that improve water quality.
  • How the NRCS is helping facilitate and collaborate locally with university researchers, conservation organizations, non-profits, state and federal agencies.
  • How this effort is a shared investment with incentives to help farmers take some risks to develop new practices and systems.
