Valentine’s Day will always have my heart. Something about celebrating people and things you love makes it memorable, and obviously, the pink and red candy helps, too. Along with Valentine's Day, the best week of the year is also in February — FFA Week!

During FFA Week, we celebrate all the wonderful things this organization has given us, such as friends we have made, lessons we have learned and work we’ve completed. FFA week is full of fun celebrations.

FFA Week memories

For my senior year, my home chapter, Blue River Valley FFA, had a big celebration for FFA Week. On Monday, our chapter went bowling. On Tuesday, we participated in a rewarding community service project that allowed us to help our elementary school by placing more wood chips around the playgrounds.

On Wednesday, we held our annual staff breakfast for Blue River’s staff. Getting up at 4:30 a.m. wasn’t fun, but being able to do something kind for our staff made it so worth it. We had our annual District 9 volleyball tournament on Thursday. It was really fun to be able to interact with other members outside of my school.

Then finally on Friday, we had a pep rally. A previous state officer came to speak with us, and then we played fun games like Farmer’s Olympics and Trainwreck. That same day, we also brought the kindergarteners through third graders over for Elementary Ag Club. It was so neat to watch them have a part in FFA Week. They had an absolute blast!

Here comes FFA Week again

Becoming an Indiana FFA state officer has given me the opportunity to reflect on how lucky I was to be involved in a community that appreciates FFA as much as mine does. It is so neat to think that other chapters think the same way too.

This year I am lucky enough to be traveling the state of Indiana with my six teammates. We will visit as many chapters as possible and truly be an interactive part of FFA Week. How cool is that?

FFA Week is another week where we can celebrate the people and things we love, just like Valentine’s Day. I am so excited for this next opportunity to serve Indiana FFA, and advocate for an organization that is worth celebrating. Happy FFA Week!
