Tim Wood, sales manager for M&W Farm Supply, can refer to a color-coded map pinpointing the farms where they apply manure and the status of each job.
M&W Farm Supply shopped for about a year before selecting manure spreaders made in Germany by Tebbe. Wood likes how they break up chunks of manure and provide an even flow.
The deflector shield above Wood’s right shoulder can be adjusted hydraulically from the tractor cab. It allows operators to set a precise line along waterways and field edges so manure is only applied where it should be.
M&W hauls about 550 tons of manure out of poultry barns every day. When weather is not suitable for field application, the manure is stored in this covered facility.
In addition to manure, M&W handles eggshells from poultry farms that process liquid egg products. The eggshells, pictured in the foreground of the photo, are applied to farmland as a source of calcium.
