Zoro miticide/insecticide has been approved by the EPA for use on cotton to control mites and other pests.

“Zoro is an important new tool for cotton farmers, especially when they need effective and economical mite control,” says Jim Barrentine, director of technical services at Cheminova.

“This product contains abamectin, a fermentation product of the naturally occurring soil bacterium, Streptomyces avermitilis, which means it is an excellent and economical alternative to Zephyr.

Barrentine says Zoro has a unique mode of action that makes it effective against cotton pests that may be resistant to organophosphates or pyrethroids. “That makes Zoro an ideal choice for resistance management programs,” says Barrentine.

Zoro also provides an extended period of control compared to other products and remains effective for up to 30 days. It is quickly absorbed into the plant tissue, and once dry, performance is not reduced by rain or irrigation.

“When the spray has dried, any beneficials on the leaf surface do not come into contact with the chemical, so Zoro also works superbly with integrated pest management programs,” says Barrentine.
