TRIMBLE NAVIGATION has been showcasing new hardware and software upgrades that allow customers to perform more tasks with their existing precision agriculture systems. Here's a summary of some of the newest products.

The AgGPS FieldLevel allows farmers to do precision field leveling themselves, improving drainage and field productivity without having to hire an outside contractor.

FieldLevel also enables growers to do their own precision topographic mapping as well as land leveling with components that are interchangeable with other Trimble AgGPS systems.

The AgGPS FieldLevel is available as RTK or DGPS. The AgGPS FieldLevel RTK option provides 10 times the horizontal range as laser leveling, with no vertical limit. With GPS only, it provides uninhibited 3-D leveling for rough grading. The AgGPS FieldLevel DGPS option combines GPS and a laser grade control system to deliver 3-D leveling for fine grading. With DGPS leveling, GPS provides horizontal positioning while the laser system provides vertical positioning.

Current users of both the AgGPS Autopilot automated steering system and the laser-based GCS21 Grade Control System can upgrade to the AgGPS FieldLevel system. By adding the AgGPS 170 Field Computer, the AgGPS FieldManager software version 5.0, and the AgGPS FieldLevel option, the user now has the flexibility of automated steering and field leveling while using the same components.

Price of the DGPS FieldLevel is $13,000 to $15,000. It requires the Trimble GCS21 Laser Control System (approximately $15,000).

The price of the RTK FieldLevel is $8,000 to $14,000. It requires a Trimble RTK Topomapping system (approximately $40,000) or Trimble AgGPS Autopilot RTK system (approximately $35,000). Circle 192.

Curves upgrade

With a free “curves” software upgrade, the Trimble AgGPS Autopilot system connects to a tractor's or combine's hydraulic power steering system and automatically steers the machine to virtually any path, including curved rows, headlands, pivot patterns and straight-line patterns. The new software release is available to Autopilot users with the RTK, HP or DGPS systems. Circle 191.

NO-TILL GROWERS may now deep till with little residue and topsoil disturbance using a new shank from Krause Corporation. The No-till Shank System features a narrow 3/4-in. shank, 8-in. shattering wing and tapered shank wear bar. No-till closing wheels may be added. Krause used Austempered ductile iron for the replaceable point, wing and wear bar to provide extended life and performance in rocky soil conditions.

The Krause 4830 series in-line ripper with the no-till shank system retails for about $10,704. Contact Krause Corp., Dept. FIN, Box 2707, Hutchinson, KS 675004-2070, 800/957-2873, visit or, or circle 190.
