White Corn Markets May Grow

According to the University of Illinois, nearly 900,000 acres of white corn were grown in the U.S. in 2002. The demand for white corn is expected to continue to increase over the next few years due to increased trade with Mexico and increased demand for Mexican food in the U.S, according to the University of Illinois.

An online survey conducted by The Corn And Soybean Digest found that 12% of the respondents grew white corn in 2003. The average premium paid for the crop was 33ยข/bu. and more than half the respondents had a contract for their crop.
