How well did ARC-CO pay for wheat in the 2014/2015 marketing year?
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released preliminary figures but notes that the information is estimated and based on available USDA data. ‘Actual payments may vary from estimates.
Eric DeVuyst, professor and Extension economist, Oklahoma State University, and Jody Campiche, director of economics and policy analysis, National Cotton Council, have used the USDA figures to create these charts showing Oklahoma county wheat payment estimates from ARC-CO.
“USDA Farm Service Agency, the agency administering farm bill commodity programs, estimates of county-level yields will likely differ from NASS estimates,” DeVuyst and Campiche say. “So, it is likely that actual payment will differ from these estimates. USDA NASS does not release yields for counties with few producers. So, yields and payments for these counties are not available (NA).
