WATERHEMP CONTROL: As part of the one-day event in January, Chris Proctor, Nebraska associate weed science Extension educator, will discuss managing waterhemp in soybeans.

Weed Science School scheduled for Jan. 29 in Nebraska

The event will feature university, government and industry speakers discussing weed science-related issues.

Update your weed science knowledge and skills at an upcoming Nebraska Extension Weed Science School.

At the one-day seminar, university, government and industry speakers will address weed science issues, as well as recommendations for improving herbicide applications. The school will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center near Mead.

"Dr. Bryan Young, professor of weed science at Purdue University, is an invited speaker to present his research experience for dicamba off-target movement in soybean," said Amit Jhala, Nebraska Extension weed management specialist and program coordinator.

Tim Creger, pesticide/fertilizer program manager with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, will discuss NDA's experience investigating dicamba complaints over the past three years — including what evidence they look for, types of violations and regulatory action taken in response to violations.
