In on-farm research trials, WideARmatch® herbicide with Arylex® active outperformed competitive programs targeting hard-to-control weeds in wheat.

“When looking for a herbicide to combat Canada thistle in our small grains, we turn to WideARmatch,” says George Nickol with Nickol Ag. “Not only is it a one-jug tank mix but it also works in our small grain and oilseed rotation and delivers excellent control on Canada thistle and our entire broadleaf weed spectrum.”

Field Forward® research trials organized by Corteva Agriscience in 2020 demonstrated the superior efficacy of WideARmatch, as a stand-alone treatment at the 14-ounce-per-acre labeled rate and tank-mixed with other herbicides.

The on-farm trials, which were in North Dakota and South Dakota, put WideARmatch to the test against more than a dozen yield-robbing weeds, including kochia, marestail, wild buckwheat, prickly lettuce, Canada thistle and common lambsquarters.

“WideARmatch provided superior thistle control,” says North Dakota retailer Matt Gregoire with United Agronomy. “It performed excellent overall. Three weeks after treatment, broadleaf weeds were nearly 100% controlled.”

The treatment of WideARmatch provided greater than 95% control of Gregoire’s targeted weeds, which included perennial sow thistle, Canada thistle, common lambsquarters, cocklebur and common mallow.

Similarly, in field trials conducted between 2018 and 2020, WideARmatch performed equal to or better than competing weed control treatments.

Four weeks after application, WideARmatch outperformed the tank mixes of Huskie herbicide and ammonium sulfate (AMS) and of Talinor herbicide with CoAct adjuvant and crop oil concentrate (COC) for control of Canada thistle, kochia and prickly lettuce.

The next generation of WideMatch® herbicide, WideARmatch herbicide controls 66 postemergence broadleaf weeds and suppresses 14 broadleaf weeds in wheat, barley and triticale. The combination of Arylex active and an elevated level of fluroxypyr provides cereal growers foundational broadleaf control they can count on for years of crop production.

Not only is WideARmatch herbicide highly effective, it is intentionally designed to offer robust broadleaf control and aid in resistance management programs.

With the unique sites of action that work on multiple binding sites within the plant, WideARmatch herbicide showcases the commitment of Corteva Agriscience to stewardship of the valuable Group 4 mode of action.
