In the Midwest,  temperatures considered slightly below normal were accompanied by shows. Growing conditions for corn and soybeans remained favorable as temps turned cooler and most areas were able to get some rainfall. Some of the driest areas of the Corn Belt, including much of Michigan and Missouri, received beneficial showers.Meanwhile, heavy rain soaked the Southeast with totals over 2 inches.

Weather conditions are different across the country. High heat and mostly dry conditions stressed livestock and resulted in the deterioration of pastures and summer crops in the south-central U.S. Weekly temperatures averaged as much as 10°F above normal in an area stretching from northern California to northern Texas.
