The 2019 Viticulture Field Day is set for June 13 at the Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center in Benton Harbor. Workshops begin at 9 a.m.

This year’s Viticulture Field Day is filled with talks from researchers such as Richard Smart, Wayne Wilcox and Michigan State University’s Paolo Sabbatini. Some of the new faces at MSU include Timothy and Laura Miles and Thomas Todaro, as well as other MSU researchers who are working to provide growers with the most current viticulture research.

Some of the workshop topics will include grapevine trunk diseases, biopesticides and methods of vineyard recovery after severe cold damage in winegrapes, among others.

There also will be a trade show that will showcase some of the newest and best precision viticulture equipment. The day will continue with the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Showcase, as well as a steak cookout for dinner.
