The Texas Produce Convention, scheduled August 17 through 19 at the Isla Grand Beach Resort at South Padre Island, will feature a pre-conference special workshop on food safety: Traceability and Recall Management.

That event will not be covered under the general convention registration.

Also featured in the three-day event will be sessions on marketing, changes in the 2012 farm bill, and immigration.

The conference kicks off with the annual Produce Industry golf tournament at the South Padre Island Golf Club August 17. An opening night reception is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Thursday evening features an annual convention highlight—casino night and the silent auction.

Convention organizers say the annual meeting offers everyone in the produce industry an opportunity to “get practical answers to difficult questions from industry experts.”
