Field crops

Alfalfa conditions remain mostly fair to good. Harvest continues in a few areas across the state.

Barley seeding is in its final stage. Durum seeding is more than three-fourths complete.

Vegetable, fruit, and specialty crops

Central Arizona growers shipped broccoli, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, kale, bok choy, cilantro, parsley, and citrus.

Western Arizona growers shipped broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, Chinese cabbage, escarole, frisee, kale, Boston, green leaf, iceberg, red leaf, and romaine lettuces. Also shipped were bok choy, arugula, cilantro, parsley, radicchio, spinach, and citrus.

Weather summary

Temperatures were mostly above normal for the week ending Feb. 5, ranging from 3 degrees below normal at Paloma and Parker to 6 degrees above normal at Douglas.

The highest temperature of the week was 80 degrees at Paloma. The lowest reading was 12 degrees at Flagstaff.

Precipitation was recorded in 2 of the 21 weather stations. The Parker area received 0.09 inches of precipitation. The Canyon De Chelley area received 0.10 inches.

Five of the weather stations have yet to receive precipitation in 2012.
