Zetor re-launches utility tractor series in North America

Zetor North America today announced the re-launch of its Major Series of value-priced utility tractors in the U.S. and Canada.  Initially, the new Major will be available in an 80-hp, 4-wd version, with 60 hp, 70-hp, 2-wd and cabriolet (open station) models to be added later.

“From 1960 to 2006, the Major line of tractors from Zetor set the standard for rugged, reliable and affordable utility tractors worldwide,” says Gary Bogart, general manager, Zetor North America.  “Our new Major models build on that tradition with simplicity of design, unsurpassed reliability, outstanding fuel economy and minimal maintenance requirements.”

Along with its heavy-duty frame, the Major features a rugged 4-cylinder Zetor engine without the electronics and computer controls of some other tractors in its class, making it easy to repair. The Major’s engine also offers a torque rise of more than 35%, reducing the need for frequent downshifting.

The Major has a 12-speed forward/12-speed reverse synchro-shuttle gearbox and a user-friendly hydraulic system.  It also has a lift capacity of more than 5,500 pounds (2,600 kg).

According to Bogart, the Major’s roomy cabin combines convenience and comfort with ergonomically designed controls, all-around visibility and optional air conditioning.

“The new Major 80 is the first of several new product introductions slated by Zetor over the next 18 months,” added Bogart.  “Together, these new tractors will give our dealers in North America a broader product line to meet the specific needs of today’s value-conscious professional farmers.”

The list price starts at $39,500 for the Major 80-hp with air conditioning. For more information, visit
