U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has added two stops to this week's planned West Coast swing, appearing in Sacramento on July 27 and Reno, Nev., on July 28 to discuss expanding opportunities for producers.

In Sacramento, he will make a major announcement with the state of California that will lower costs for those in need and support local farms by purchasing locally grown products that will be distributed to underserved communities throughout the state, and serve feeding programs, including food banks, according to a news release.

In Reno, Vilsack will announce significant investments in rural broadband in Nevada and nationwide, according to his agency.

Vilsack was beginning his West Coast swing today, July 25, touring a U.S. Forest Service tree nursery in Boise and discussing wildfire prevention and resiliency. He will serve as keynote speaker at the Western Governors Association annual conference on July 26.
