Only 15% of the corn in Iowa has been harvested so far this year.

The wet weather is taking a toll on harvest in parts of the Midwest. The crop progress report shows 34% of the corn crop has been harvested. That’s up from the four-year average of 26%. However, combines gained less than 10% of the harvest in the past week.

Soybean harvest

The soybean harvest is also moving slow. The crop progress report shows 32% has been completed. That’s down from the four-year average of 36%. In Iowa, only 18% has been completed and 17% in Wisconsin.

Corn maturity

Producers report 93% of the corn crop is mature. That’s up from the four-year average of 83%.

Corn condition

Crop reporters say 68% of the corn crop is in good/excellent condition. Last week, 69% was in good/excellent condition.

Here are the good/excellent conditions in the top five corn producing states: Iowa (70%), Illinois (80%), Nebraska (79%), Minnesota (77%), Kansas (47%).

Soybean conditions

The soybean conditions remained the same this week. The report shows 68% of the soybean crop in good/excellent condition.

This week, here are the good/excellent conditions in the top five soybean producing states: Illinois (80%), Iowa (70%), Minnesota (72%), Nebraska (82%), North Dakota (54%).

Soybeans dropping leaves

The crop progress report shows 91% of the soybean crop has dropped its leaves. That’s up from the four-year average of 85%.
