Day 1 of the Shell Rotella SuperRigs

The 32nd annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition was held at the zMAX Dragway, which is part of Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., from May 15-17 for the biggest SuperRigs ever.  With a theme of “Go Big,” the event hosted big rigs, over $25,000 in cash and prizes, access to two races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, live concerts and more.

The Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition is the premier truck "beauty" contest for actively working trucks. Owner/operator truckers from across the United States and Canada compete for cash and prizes valued at approximately $25,000.  Twelve drivers are also be selected to have their truck featured in the 2015 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar.

Here we take a look at Day 1 of the event when the rigs started rolling in. Check back for photos from Day 2 and a gallery with the results.

And before the event, Farm Industry News attended an engine teardown where a Shell expert showed us how their new category of diesel engine oil set to come out in 2016 performed on a number of engine parts.

Take our quiz to see if you can tell how the oil performed.

And watch the Shell expert explain the engine teardown.
