Tri-State Soybean Forum Jan. 5 in Vicksburg

Hundreds of growers, crop consultants and scientists will journey to Vicksburg, Miss., on Jan. 5 when Mississippi hosts the 50th annual Tri-State Soybean Forum.

The event is sponsored this year by Mississippi State University's Extension Service, the Louisiana State University Agricultural Research and Extension, the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service and other supporters of the soybean industry.

The meeting, which rotates locations each year between the three states, attracts 350 to 400 participants. Extension personnel from MSU, LSU and Arkansas will make presentations during the program, which begins at 8 a.m. in the Vicksburg Convention Center. Registration for the free meeting begins at 7:30 a.m.

Topics on the agenda include managing soybean diseases, insect control, weed control, irrigation and production issues. Participants will hear cost effective strategies for Mid-South soybeans. At the conclusion of the half-day program, soybean growers from the three states will take part in a panel group discussion before adjourning for a sponsored lunch.

For more information, contact the John Coccaro, forum chairman and Warren County Extension director, at (601) 636-5442 or Local county Extension offices also have details.
