Growers who want to broaden their sustainable farming practices can join an innovative program that connects them with veteran farmers and leading University of California (UC) agriculture experts.

The San Joaquin Sustainable Farming Project (SJSFP) is recruiting new almond, alfalfa and cotton growers in Merced, Madera, and Fresno counties for the 2017 season.

As a SJSFP member, growers will learn valuable strategies to improve yields and become better environmental stewards in today’s economic and regulatory climate.

Sponsored the Sustainable Cotton Project (SCP), the SJSFP program connects growers with other innovative farmers and top UC Cooperative Extension advisors and researchers.

Over the years, the program and its growers have gained recognition nationally and internationally.

Participating SJSFP growers receive several benefits:

SJSFP operates under the direction of the SCP, a California nonprofit that has worked with San Joaquin Valley growers for more than a decade to produce an environmentally friendly Cleaner Cotton for the consumer market.

SJSFP is available through an agreement with the State Water Resources Control Board and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – Clean Water Act Section 319.
