The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) Trade and Economic Development program is reporting record export sales from the Nevada food and agriculture sectors from January to March of 2021. This is the second consecutive quarter to break previous export records.

“Food and agriculture exports have been on an upward trajectory,” said NDA Education and Information Officer Brandon Bishop. “The fourth quarter of 2020 broke an export record, and the first quarter of 2021 exceeded that as well. That's welcome news for Nevada's food and agriculture businesses and Nevada's economy.”

During the first quarter of 2021 (Jan. – March), Nevada’s food and agriculture sectors exported $99.9 million. The last record-breaking quarter saw $95.8 million in the fourth quarter (Oct. – Dec.) of 2020. Exports in 2020 were affected by trade conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic, but these back to back record setting quarters indicate a strong rebound in global food and agriculture trade.

“The NDA has great resources and partners available to help our food and agriculture industries continue to grow,” said NDA Senior Trade Officer Dillon Davidson. “Our team will be setting up several trade missions this year, and we encourage anyone interested in expanding their agribusiness domestically or internationally to reach out to us.”

The NDA works with key trade partners, stakeholders and policy makers to ensure that the food and agriculture sector continues to see economic growth. To ensure that industry and partners are up-to-date, the NDA Trade and Economic Development program is issuing quarterly trade reports.
