Some people called 2019 the “year of the tractor” at farm shows. Several companies introduced completely new lines of tractors, whiles others added significant improvements to existing models for the 2020 marketing year. You’ll find several of those tractors featured in this slideshow. A few others are featured elsewhere in more detail in Farm Progress publications and on websites, such as John Deere’s 6M Series.

This gallery leads off with an eye-catcher from Claas. You can’t buy the 900 TT tractor yet, but the company line is it will be available within two or three years. The rumor mill says you could see it offered sooner. It’s what Claas calls a “concept tractor.” The final version that comes to market may not look exactly like the one pictured here and may have slightly different features. Yet this machine gives a good indication of where Claas is headed in tractor development.

Spokespeople say the 900 TT tractor was designed with North American farmers in mind. For example, farmers in the U.S. and Canada tend to use more hydraulics than European farmers, so this tractor has more hydraulic outlets. Engineers concentrated on making sure the hydraulic system can deliver the capacity and power necessary to operate in the ways farmers are accustomed to in the field. There are also other modifications that will help operators feel even more at home in this tractor.

Meanwhile, Case IH continues to make additions to its Magnum lineup. Case IH engineers believe the future is all about connectivity and high-tech operation for both tractors and implements. This tractor is built with those types of future operations in mind.

Deutz-Fahr also continues to impress with sleek, sophisticated models developed in Europe but that are finding favor in the U.S. These tractors are built with some of the most efficient transmissions found anywhere and are designed for long hours of use in the field.
