Tractor Finders to shop online

MORE AND MORE farmers have turned to the Internet to purchase equipment. And with the click of a mouse, they are able to find what they are looking for at Tractor Finders (, an electronic interface between farmers and a team of experienced professionals who know the agricultural equipment industry.

For instance, a farmer needs to add a new combine. He goes online, enters what he is looking for, and the team at Tractor Finders searches its database and locates a combine with very few hours on it in a neighboring town that the farmer wouldn't have known about otherwise.

Tractor Finders visually inspects the equipment and can give a detailed report to the buyer, all within just a few hours.

At the Web site, a farmer would click on “Tell us what you are looking for” and complete and submit a search form. The company's database researchers search the Internet, locate the equipment and gather pertinent information, such as photographs, condition reports, and asking price, from the seller. The information goes into a cutomized PowerPoint presentation offering several units.

The negotiation process and prices have been previously discussed. The process puts the buyer in a better position to control the purchase. The seller either sells at the buyer's price or Tractor Finders finds another seller.

Tractor Finders is a licensed Arkansas Limited Liability Company located on Hwy 65 just north of Dumas, Ark. The founders and managing members are Wayne Caldwell and Jerome Hamilton. In its first month there were 482 leads on the Web site.

According to Caldwell, “It's simple. We locate and negotiate for equipment. We know tractors, their options and fair market values, and we know how to use what the Internet has to offer. It's a win-win situation for our clients. The seller may be in Alabama and he may be experiencing a soft market, while the buyer may be in Kansas where the market is stronger.”

The company's Web site offers financing options. Both commercial and individual credit applications can be downloaded from the site. Tractor Finders also offers Agriculture Equipment Appraisals on an as-needed basis.
