Timber workshops planned in November

The North Carolina Forest Landowners Association is offering a workshop on alternatives to maximize profitability for the individual forest landowner.

Subjects to be covered are tax deferred exchanges of real estate, capital gains and timber depletion for timber and land sales, and investment planning for the 21st Century.

The workshop will be held in three locations - Statesville, N.C., on Nov. 2 at the Iredell County Extension Center; Wilson, N.C., on Nov. 6 at the Wilson County Extension Center; and Whiteville, N.C. on Nov. 7 at the Columbus County Extension Center.

Each participant will receive a notebook of instructional materials. The workshop will begin at 9:00 a.m. , end at 2:00 p.m. and will include a catered lunch.

Instructors are from the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP, the Investors Title Exchange Corporation, and the College of Forest Resources at North Carolina State University.

The registration fee is $50 for members of the Forest Landowners Association, and $60 for non-members. Each registrant will be mailed an acknowledgment and a map to the meeting site chosen.
