Startups, innovators and unique ideas from CES

Slideshow: Farm Progress is excited that ag companies are at this consumer show, and there are also some interesting finds farmers may find of interest.

A trip to CES in Las Vegas can be an eye opener. From the pile of lidar (light detection and ranging) units from dozens of companies to car innovations and concepts for all manner of life issues, you can find something of interest. Here, the focus was on the unique, the unusual — and, in some cases, innovative ideas. Many are not ready for market but show the ways people investing in new areas. There was even some university research farmers might find interesting.

Farm Progress branched out a little bit to report on some household items that still pertain to a farm lifestyle. There’s some fund stuff here, too, including the very last slide, which promises to offer tech that many wanted years ago — a flying car.

There are some curious items here, ranging from a DNA-based tool designed to help you make better eating decisions to a new way to think about Mason jars. There’s also some equipment to protect your hearing, too, and that’s something more farmers need.

Click through the slideshow to get an idea of the innovative ways startup companies are trying to create new opportunities. Some are new, some are interesting, and many deserve a look.
