The Tribine Harvester was a head turner when it showed up at a major farm show in 2013. Back then it was a prototype machine, but drew plenty of attention for its rethink of the way farmers harvest grain. The company has announced production models are now rolling off the line in time to take orders for the 2017 harvest season.

The big machines are a mashup of a combine and a grain cart, creating a new and different looking machine that the company claims is the first innovation in grain harvest since World War II, when the first combines rolled off the line.

Reducing compaction by reducing the number of machines that have to run through the field is the key goal of the design. With an integrated 1,000 bushel grain cart, you can harvest and unload without an added tractor and cart. In fact, the company says the grain cart can be unloaded in as little as two minutes.

In its release the company claims it has the largest threshing and cleaning system that has up to twice the cleaning area of any other harvester. The machine features 270-degrees of concave wrap around the threshing rotor. There's a 500-gallon fuel tank that offers 24 hours of continuous operating time too.

The Tribine is no longer a prototype, and you can see the machine at work at both the Farm Progress Show - Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 in Boone, Iowa;  and Husker Harvest Days, Sept. 13-15 near Grand Island, Neb.
