Whether you are in the midst of harvest or have all your harvest equipment cleaned up and parked for the winter, you likely know which pieces of equipment worked well this fall and which ones caused breakdowns and held up harvest. If you’re looking to cut down on downtime before next season, you may be interested in checking out some of the new combines, combine heads and grain carts, which debuted this past year.

Many companies displayed either 2018 upgraded versions of existing products or brand-new products at shows this fall. Farm Progress editors tracked down the new products so that you could compare them and see which ones might fill a need on your farm.

The lineup varies and includes an updated Claas Lexion 2018 combine with upgraded features, including more creature comforts. You can even order an optional refrigerator if you want. New Holland also introduced a new combine at the shows this fall. Other companies also introduced combines which have new features for 2018. If you don’t see your favorite model here, it’s likely because it’s been talked about elsewhere in Farm Progress stories. The list of products featured here are by no means all-inclusive.

Four new grain carts were unveiled at shows this fall as well. Some represent new models with a different capacity than the company had in its lineup before. Others are new products with features that make them suitable for doing other things than just transporting grain from the combine to the semi at the end of the field.

Not every new product you will find here is a combine or a grain cart. You will also find information on a couple of heads — one for soybeans and small grains, and another for corn. Plus, there is even a product used to bag dry grain for storage. Bagging as a storage option for grain is gaining momentum in some areas. If you have questions about any of these products, be sure to follow up with the contact information provided.
