Targeted weed spraying is a hot topic these days. With the industry seeking new ways to ramp up control of resistant weeds, while also controlling costs and reducing total herbicide use, new tech is needed. In 2021, BASF and Robert Bosch formed Bosch BASF Smart Farming, a new joint venture to develop new products.

Matt Leininger is managing director in North America for the new joint venture. In this episode of Around Farm Progress he discusses why the venture was formed, and digs in on its product focus areas. The tech most discussed during the BASF Science Behind event at Commodity Classic was a smart sprayer that tackles targeted spraying with a range of tools. And he discusses how that product might enter the market.

Working with Leininger is Vincent Orliange who is project director for Robert Bosch and involved with the engineering of the new sprayer. In his conversation, which will be popular with our gearhead listeners, Orliange digs in on the engineering it takes to create a true targeted weed sprayer. It's an interesting look at the investment the joint venture is making in future ag technology.

Give it a listen.
