Agriculture technology remains a hot topic even though it's been nearly a decade since the first big investment move in the industry. The interest in agriculture, and also food innovations, has not been slowed by the pandemic, which may surprise many.

Why is that so? There are several reasons, and some relate to the pandemic. To get a better understanding of the agtech investment strategies at play, we turned to Roger Royse, a partner with Haynes and Boone, a Palo Alto, California, law practice. Royse, who was raised on a North Dakota farm, has long watch ag tech investment, and has been involved in several deals too.

He offers his perspective on the issue and how the global ag tech startup business is evolving to better match innovation with farmer need. His discussion shares how these investments are paying off for most players in the market. And he does discuss why farmers should care – even if those startups get going out West in grape and almond country.
