You have invested a lot into your farm business office, and you want to keep it secure. You may be concerned about crime, wildlife or even weather affecting your office while you are away. Video surveillance can help you keep an eye on your business or remote office when you cannot physically be there. Here are four easy-to-use video surveillance options for your smart office:

1) Nest Cam
The Nest Cam, formerly known as Dropcam, is one of the easiest to install cameras on the market. The device can livestream and record video in the cloud. It also includes motion and sound detection to alert you via email or text message. Both the indoor and outdoor versions retail for $199.

2) D-Link Wi-Fi Cameras
D-Link has several do-it-yourself options for Wi-Fi cameras - all of which connect to a free mobile app. They offer motion detection, scheduling, and alerts. Ranging from $59.99 to $179.99, D-Link offers both indoor and outdoor security camera options.

3) Foscam
Foscam cameras resemble the IP cameras you are accustomed to seeing in small businesses. The company has indoor and outdoor options that have night vision and are waterproof. The devices also have motion and sound detection. With app connectivity, you can view the video feed, set up alerts and even upgrade your device’s firmware. Their cameras range in cost from $84.99 to $369.99.

4) Blink
Blink is a unique option because it can run on batteries for two years and is wire-free. It syncs with an app, includes live viewing and alerts for motion detection. The system starts at $99. Their outdoor camera, Blink XT, is weatherproof and has night vision, and will be available for purchase in 2017.

These cameras are an excellent option to monitor your farm office. If you have greater security needs, such as sensors for motion, doors, and windows, some of these companies offer additional solutions and have integration with Amazon Alexa. However, you may want to speak with a security professional about a more robust system.
