Technology & Management Conference Jan. 28-30

ALEXANDRIA, La. — The Louisiana Agricultural Consultants Association will present the first annual Louisiana Agricultural Technology and Management Conference Jan. 28-30 at the Louisiana Convention Centre in Alexandria.

The three-day conference will provide advanced continuing education to agricultural professionals and will focus on issues facing Louisiana agriculture. The conference will feature in-depth analysis of key topics with presentations from experts across the Southern United States.

General sessions will address policy and technology issues in cotton, sugar cane, rice, soybean, corn and other small grain and alternative crops. Break-out sessions will focus on management issues related to insect, weed and disease pests targeting the session’s key crop, either cotton, sugar cane, rice or alternative crops such as sweet potato and wildlife forages.

Conference-goers may also benefit from optional workshops including a half-day Intro to Precision Agriculture. Laptops and GPS software will be used in this classroom, hands-on style workshop led by a team of precision agriculture experts. Those interested in this workshop can choose from two scheduled times: Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and Friday, Jan. 30, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required and seating is limited.

An industry and precision agriculture trade show, technical poster exhibits and WPS re-certification workshop will also be held during the conference.

The Louisiana Agricultural Technology & Management Conference, the first advanced seminar of its kind focusing specifically on Louisiana agriculture, will be held instead of the LACA’s former annual meeting known as the Spring Pest Management Workshop. LATMC offers crop consultant re-certification and CEUs.

Those interested in attending may pre-register. Registration fee includes all meals and meeting materials. Forms and more information about registration and the trade show are available on the LACA Web site at or by calling Marianna Hayes at 662-834-9938.
