Study Confirms Biotech Benefits

A new study explains the benefits and impact of biotechnology for food production. In fact, the use of biotech corn could reduce the amount of pesticides being used by 14 million pounds, says Leonard Gianessi, a senior research associate for the National Center for Food and Agricultural Policy (NCFAP).

“Overall, the use of biotech crops would increase farm income by $2.5 billion, produce 14 billion pounds of food and fiber and would prevent 163 million pounds of pesticide from being used,” says Gianessi, who conducted the study.
