Strawberry group names manager

The California Strawberry Commission has announced Jan Garrett is the commission's new senior merchandising manager.

Garrett will take responsibility for developing demand building programs with key retail accounts in North America. She will also utilize her analytical skills while leading the commission's category management program and account business review process. Reporting to Chris Christian, director of product and marketing, Garrett will be based in Ventura, Calif.

Garrett has a Bachelor's degree in International Marketing from California State University, Fullerton and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. She has over 15 years of experience in etail, produce and marketing and most recently was the director of marketing at Fresh Directions International, where she implemented sales and marketing strategies for selling and promoting avocados and mangos. Garrett has also worked with the Washington Apple and Washington State Fruit commissions and for Certified Grocers of California as the promotions manager.

Commission President Rodger Wasson said, “With Jan's connections and reputation in retail produce and her understanding of how commodity boards work to serve industry members, she will be an important asset to the California Strawberry Commission.”
